Lease to Own a Car in the UAE Without a Bank
Yes, you can lease to own a car in the UAE without a bank. With a rent-to-own plan you pay part of the car price at the start, then a fixed monthly payment for 24 or 36 months, and at the end the car is transferred to your name. No bank loan, no salary certificate, and no credit bureau (AECB) check.
How lease to own works without a bank
A normal car loan goes through a bank. The bank looks at your salary, your salary transfer, and your credit file at the AECB. If you are self-employed on a trade licence, or salaried without a salary transfer, or new in the country, that process often stops before it starts.
A rent-to-own plan skips the bank. You deal directly with the company that owns the car. At Gleeven it works like this:
- You pick a car from the current list on our website.
- We buy that car.
- You pay a part of the car price at the start. That payment is what buys the car.
- You pay a fixed monthly amount for 24 or 36 months, depending on the car.
- After the last monthly payment, the car is transferred to you.
During the term the car is registered to the owning company. The transfer at the end is written in the contract, so you know from day one what happens and when.
What you pay at the start, and what you pay monthly
There is a payment at the start. It is not a deposit and you do not get it back, because it goes into buying the car you chose. There is nothing else on top of it. No deposit, no admin fee, no hidden charge.
The size of that first payment is different for every car, so we do not quote it here. It is shown with each car on our website, next to the monthly payment and the term, and it changes as stock moves.
On most plans, insurance and the agreed servicing are already inside the monthly payment. That keeps your cost predictable for the whole term. Fines and Salik are paid by the driver, as with any car.
There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum. The last monthly payment is the last payment. Then the car becomes yours.
What documents you need
The list is short:
- Emirates ID, or passport with a valid UAE visa
- A UAE driving licence
- A security cheque
No salary certificate. No bank statement requirement from a bank underwriting team. No AECB check. We look at the car, the plan, and the documents above.
We do not promise approval to anyone in advance. Every request is reviewed. But the review does not depend on a credit score, which is the main reason people come to us.
Bank loan or rent-to-own, which is cheaper
Being straight about this matters. If you qualify for a bank car loan, the bank is usually the cheaper way to own a car. Bank interest on a car loan is normally lower than the total cost of a rent-to-own plan. If you have a stable salary, a salary transfer to the bank, and a clean AECB record, go to the bank first and compare.
Rent-to-own makes sense when the bank is not an option, or when you do not want a loan on your credit file, or when you need the car this week and not after weeks of paperwork.
| Bank car loan | Rent-to-own with Gleeven | |
|---|---|---|
| Credit bureau (AECB) check | Yes | No |
| Salary certificate or salary transfer | Usually required | Not required |
| Self-employed on a trade licence | Often difficult | Accepted, subject to review |
| Payment at the start | Down payment | Part of the car price, shown per car on our site |
| Insurance and servicing | Paid separately by you | Inside the monthly payment on most plans |
| Final lump sum | Depends on the product | None. Last month is the last payment |
| Total cost | Usually lower if you qualify | Higher than a cheap bank rate |
| Ownership at the end | Yours | Transferred to you, as per contract |
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits people the bank cannot read easily. Freelancers and owners of small companies on a trade licence. Employees paid in cash or without a salary transfer. People in their first months in the UAE with no credit history yet. People in a probation period. People who want insurance and servicing in one fixed monthly number.
It does not suit everyone. Two clear cases:
- Ride-hailing. A car on a private rent-to-own plan cannot be used for Uber or Careem in Dubai. Ride-hailing needs commercial plates through a limousine company. If that is your plan, this is not the right product.
- Cheapest possible total cost. If a bank will approve you at a low rate, the bank wins on price. Use it.
Who you sign with, and how to start
The cars listed on our website are our own stock. You sign with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, licensed in Dubai under trade licence 1144437, trading as Gleeven. Nothing is passed to a bank or a finance broker.
To start, open our website and look at the current list. Each car shows its monthly payment, its term, and the payment due at the start. Prices and stock change, so the site is always the correct source, not a screenshot or an old ad.
You can also come and see the cars. Our showroom is at Midtown Central, Majan, Shop 28, Dubai, open every day from 10am to 8pm. Drive the car you are considering, read the contract, ask what happens at the end, then decide.
