How to get a car in Dubai without a bank loan
Banks in the UAE refuse a lot of people on paperwork, not on money. There are three routes that do not involve a bank at all.
Why the bank says no even when you can pay
A UAE bank usually wants your salary transferred to it, a salary certificate from a listed employer, and a clean AECB credit file. Plenty of people who earn well fail on at least one of those: someone self-employed on a trade licence, someone paid partly in cash, someone new in the country with a thin credit file, someone whose employer is not on the bank's list. The bank is not saying you cannot afford the car. It is saying your file is the wrong shape.
Route 1: rent to own
You take a car from a company that owns it, pay monthly for 24 or 36 months, and the car registers in your name at the end. No bank, no salary certificate, no credit bureau check. On this site you pick the car, we buy that exact one, you pay from AED 8,400 at the start and from AED 2,620 a month.
Route 2: dealer instalments
Some used-car dealers in Dubai and Sharjah sell in instalments from their own balance sheet. Typically they ask for a down payment of several thousand dirhams and the term is shorter, so the monthly payment is higher. Worth a call if you want a specific used car and can put money down.
Route 3: subscription
A monthly subscription includes insurance, servicing and registration and you can hand the car back. It is the most flexible and the most expensive per month, and in most cases you never own the car. Some providers add a buyout at the end, which turns it back into route 1.
How the three compare
| Rent to own | Dealer instalments | Subscription | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank involved | No | No | No |
| Credit bureau check | No | Sometimes | No |
| Money at the start | None on the cars here | Usually AED 5,000 and up | One month, sometimes a deposit |
| You own it at the end | Yes | Yes | Usually no |
