Rent to Own a Car in Dubai

Rent to own means you pay part of the car price at the start, then a fixed monthly payment for 24 or 36 months, and at the end the car is transferred to your name. No bank, no salary certificate and no credit bureau (AECB) check, which is why many self-employed and newly arrived residents in Dubai use it.

How rent to own works at Gleeven

The steps are simple.

  1. You look at the current list of cars on gleeven.com. Each car shows its monthly payment, its term and the payment due at the start.
  2. You pick the car. We buy that car.
  3. You pay part of the car price at the start. This payment is what buys the car. It is not a deposit and there is nothing else on top of it.
  4. You pay a fixed monthly amount for 24 or 36 months, depending on the car.
  5. The last monthly payment is the last payment. Then the car is transferred to you.

There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum at the end. During the term the car is registered to the owning company, and it transfers to you at the end as written in the contract. You sign with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, licensed in Dubai under trade licence 1144437. The cars on the site are our own stock.

We do not publish prices in articles because stock moves and each car is different. The current cars, the current monthly payments and the current starting payment for each car are on gleeven.com.

Who this is for

Rent to own is usually a fit if one of these describes you.

It is not a fit if you want a car for Uber or Careem. A car on a private rent to own plan cannot be used for ride-hailing in Dubai. Ride-hailing needs commercial plates through a limousine company. If that is your plan, this is the wrong product for you.

When a bank loan is the better choice

We will say this plainly. If you are salaried, your salary is transferred, you have a clean AECB report and a bank is ready to give you a car loan, the bank is normally cheaper over the full term. A bank prices risk with your credit history. A rent to own plan does not look at your credit history, so the cost of that risk sits inside the monthly payment.

So the honest order is: check a bank first if you qualify. Come to rent to own when the bank says no, when the bank asks for documents you do not have, or when you do not want a loan on your name at all.

Normal rental is fine for a few months. Over two or three years you pay and keep nothing. That is the gap rent to own fills.

What is inside the monthly payment

On most plans, insurance and the agreed servicing are inside the monthly payment. So you have one number to plan around every month.

You pay your own traffic fines and your own Salik. That is normal, because you are the driver.

There is no deposit and no hidden fee on top of the payment at the start and the monthly payment. If you are comparing offers around Dubai, ask every company the same question: after the first payment and the monthly amount, is there anything else. Ask for the answer in writing in the contract.

Documents and how to start

You need three things.

There is no bank application, no salary certificate and no credit bureau check. We still look at each case before we sign, so nothing here is an approval promise.

To start, open gleeven.com and see the cars in stock with their monthly payments and terms. Then message us on WhatsApp at +971585276277 with the car you like, or come to the showroom at Midtown Central, Majan, Shop 28, Dubai. We are open every day from 10am to 8pm. Bring your documents if you want to move the same visit.

Read these points before you sign

Check the term on the car you picked. Some cars are 24 months and some are 36 months.

Check what happens if you want to end early, and keep a copy of the contract.

Check that the transfer at the end is written in the contract, not just spoken.

Keep the car in the condition the contract asks for. It becomes your car at the end, so damage costs you twice.

Do not sign anything you have not read, with us or with anyone else.

Questions people ask

Do I need a bank or a salary certificate? +
No. There is no bank in the process, no salary certificate and no AECB credit bureau check. You need your Emirates ID or passport with a valid UAE visa, a UAE driving licence and a security cheque.
Is there a payment at the start? +
Yes. You pay part of the price of the car you picked at the start, because we buy that car for you. It is not a deposit and there is nothing else on top of it. The amount is different for every car and it is shown with the car on gleeven.com.
Is there a big final payment at the end? +
No. There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum. The last monthly payment is the last payment, then the car is transferred to you.
Can I drive this car for Uber or Careem? +
No. A car on a private rent to own plan cannot be used for ride-hailing in Dubai. That work needs commercial plates through a limousine company.
Who owns the car during the term? +
The car is registered to the owning company during the term and transfers to you at the end, as written in the contract. You sign with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, a company licensed in Dubai, and the cars listed on the site are our own stock.
Is rent to own cheaper than a bank loan? +
Usually not, if you qualify at a bank. If you are salaried with a salary transfer and a clean credit record, check the bank first. Rent to own is for people the bank will not serve or who do not want a bank loan.
