Zero Down Payment Car in the UAE: Read This First
A true zero down payment car in the UAE is very hard to find. Most banks ask for a down payment of part of the car price, and most private plans, including ours at Gleeven, ask for a payment at the start that buys the car. What you can find is a car without a bank, without a salary certificate and without a credit bureau check, and that is what this page explains.
What "zero down payment" usually means here
When you search for a car in the UAE with zero down payment, you will see three different things, and they are not the same.
- Bank car loans. Most banks in the UAE ask for a down payment on the car price and want a salary transfer or a salary certificate. They also check your record at the credit bureau (AECB). Some banks run short offers with a small or no down payment, but they still need the salary and the credit check.
- Long term rental. Some rental companies ask for a security deposit instead of a down payment. You pay monthly, but the car never becomes yours.
- Rent to own. You pay a part of the car price at the start, then a fixed monthly amount, and the car is transferred to you at the end of the term.
If you are self-employed on a trade licence, salaried without a salary transfer, or new in the country, the first option is often closed. That is usually the real reason people search for zero down payment.
How rent to own works at Gleeven
Gleeven is a rent-to-own company in Dubai. You pick a car from our stock. We buy that car, and you pay a part of the car price at the start. That payment is what buys the car. It is not a deposit, and there is nothing else on top of it.
After that you pay a fixed amount every month for 24 or 36 months, depending on the car. On most plans, insurance and the agreed servicing are already inside the monthly payment. There is no deposit and no hidden fee.
There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum. The last monthly payment is the last payment. After it, the car is transferred to you, as written in the contract.
We do not publish prices on this page, because the list of cars, the monthly payments and the starting payment change as stock moves. The current cars and the current numbers are on gleeven.com. The starting payment is different for every car, so check the car you want.
What you need, and what we do not ask for
Documents:
- Emirates ID, or a passport with a valid UAE visa
- A UAE driving licence
- A security cheque
We do not go to a bank. We do not ask for a salary certificate or a salary transfer. We do not check the credit bureau (AECB).
This does not mean every application is accepted. We look at each case, and we can say no. Anyone who promises approval before looking at your file is not being serious with you.
Bank loan, rental, rent to own
| Bank car loan | Long term rental | Gleeven rent to own | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment at the start | Down payment on the car price | Security deposit in most cases | Part of the car price, no deposit on top |
| Salary certificate or transfer | Usually required | Not usually required | Not required |
| Credit bureau check | Yes | Sometimes | No |
| Insurance and servicing | You pay separately | Usually included | Included in the monthly payment on most plans |
| You own the car at the end | Yes | No | Yes, transferred after the last month |
| Total cost | Lowest if you qualify | You keep paying and own nothing | Higher than a bank loan |
Read the last row again. A bank loan is cheaper over the full term for a person who qualifies. If you have a salary transfer, a clean AECB record and time to wait for approval, go to your bank first. Rent to own costs more, because there is no bank behind it and the risk sits with us.
The limits you should know before you sign
Some things are on you, and some things are simply not allowed on this type of plan.
- Fines and Salik are paid by the driver. They are not inside the monthly payment.
- No Uber, no Careem. A car on a private rent-to-own plan cannot be used for ride hailing in Dubai. Ride hailing needs commercial plates through a limousine company. If that is your plan, this is not the right product for you.
- Registration during the term. The car is registered to the owning company for the length of the plan, and it transfers to you at the end, as written in the contract.
- Who you sign with. The cars on the site are our own stock. You sign with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, Dubai trade licence 1144437.
- The security cheque. It exists for a reason. If you stop paying, it can be used. Only take a monthly amount you are sure you can pay for the full 24 or 36 months.
How to check if this fits you
Do this in order. It takes a few minutes.
- Open gleeven.com and look at the current list of cars. Each car shows its monthly payment and its term.
- Check the payment at the start for the car you want. If it is not comfortable today, look at a cheaper car instead of stretching.
- Add your own fuel, Salik and parking to the monthly figure. That is your real monthly cost.
- If a bank is open to you and the numbers work there, use the bank.
- If it is not, send us the car you picked on WhatsApp with your documents and we will tell you where you stand.
Our showroom is at Midtown Central, Majan, Shop 28, Dubai. It is open every day from 10am to 8pm, so you can see the car before you decide anything.
